This is al-kisah team *Still Fast & Curious* dalam pengembaraan mencari jawapan dari KL - Lumut.

Sementara tunggu the delegates sampai kat Menara KL for the dinner, I sms-ed MrB to ask about our team's preparation for the hunt. Earlier in the week he said that tak sempat nak buat our team t-shirt. My mind was already cluttered with other matters… not having a coordinated dress code was the least on my mind walaupun I was the one who was eager to dress up. What can I say... I love dressing up :) And 2 hunts ago we won 2nd prize garbed in egyptian pharoah style.
So imagine my excitement when MrB reverted later to say that he managed to get our t-shirts done. Yippee! It's nothing as grandiose as our previous glitterati... this time it's much more sedate and had important messages. Walaupun in the end we didn't win or get any special mention, I'm very proud of our costume... it had substance! And very nicely done too I must add... thanks to the good taste of MrB :)
I couldn't join the team for the briefing session and quiz session on Friday evening, being stuck at Menara KL and all. They had to sit through "An Inconvenient Truth" as the theme of the hunt this year is "caring for nature"... or something like that. It's in line with my organisation's move towards promoting and inculcating environmentally friendly and awareness culture.
Got home late Friday evening (not that late lah since it wasn't midnight yet). Terus cari barang2 untuk di pack. Took a shower, set the alarm for 5.40am and went to bed.
5.40am came too soon... mau tak mau I dragged myself out of bed. Had to be at the office by 6.30am. Before tido, told my dad that I was leaving the house at 6am. But turned out, 6.20am baru keluar rumah. It did take me that long to *wake up*...
Sampai kat office, called ZCD to ask her whereabouts and went towards her car. With eyes half shut and rabun without my glasses I could hardly make out MrB as I went down the escalator. CKL and ZCD were also there (I think it's time to do lasik lah...) Went up to my floor to get liquid paper, bumped into SN... wished him luck (and luck was bestowed upon him... menang 1st prize!!). We were each given a t-shirt sempena the hunt but bila dibuka dari packaging it was too small for me. Boleh lah pakai tapi nanti seksa bukannya seksi. Itulah, perasan that I could fit into an XL...
Went to the briefing kat auditorium... sambil dengar makan sandwich. Flag off was by DBB#2... from jauh we could only see the flag being waved since he's rather rendah and di-block oleh orang yang agak besar, hehe...
I usually have no problems reading in a moving vehicle but this time round, awal2 lagi dah mula pening lalat. Must be the sleep deprivation from the past few days... Nasib baik lah awal2 we lalu highway je... all the way until Bukit Beruntung. This year we didn't form any strategic alliances... tak sempat. So *Still Fast & Curious* was all on our own. All four of us were busy... the fact that we managed to form a team pun dah kira quite bagus. I did try... called QIA Friday night to ask whether he'd be interested, but as expected, they've made arrangements with another team. Tak apa lah...
Amazingly we managed to decipher the *treasure* clues quite early on... more or less. Which was a big relief because they carry 5 points each. But we did get sangkut with many of the signage questions... took us a long time to finish the Bukit Beruntung area. Itu lah... time management out sikit. That plus beberapa kali kena pusing2 sebab tersalah junction. The prolonged search did hurt us in the end... clocking in late (by 1 minute!) and not having enough time to search for the final 3 answers (semua salah), despite ZCD's best efforts to be the next Kimi Raikonnen.
Lepas Bukit Beruntung, masuk highway balik until Behrang. During this stretch we already knew that we were 1/2 hour behind... and nasib lah pulak traffic was slow moving on the highway due to roadworks. ZCD tak dapat nak push her beamer to the limit. From Behrang onwards, the route was via trunk road. I memang tahu that the stretch, especially Bidor-Teluk Intan and Teluk Intan-Lumut banyak lori... which we did encounter. Dengan skill and horsepower yang mencukupi, we did manage to overtake them rather comfortably ;)
By Behrang, the questions were getting tougher and the area to search the answers semakin meluas. En route to Bidor, we sempat buat toilet stop and berhenti beli the famed jambu batu (hmm... patutlah we didn't have enough time, hehe). By the time we reached Bidor it was high noon... the sun was scorching. Since tak jumpa the answer from dalam kereta... CKL, MrB and I decided to menapak for better view. We did find the answer (clue deciphered with the aid of my sister and internet back home... talian hayat maa, we're not Jeopardy experts) but not without a toll. All three of us immediately sakit kepala lepas tu... so hot! Nasib baik lah we had a good 40 minutes of driving before the next set of questions.
By the time we reached Teluk Intan, we were waaaaaaaay behind. No other competition cars were in sight. Nasib baik lah jumpa all the answers at the first area. Didn't have as much luck at the area surrounding the Menara Condong... but ok lah. Twice throughout the journey, the answers stared back at us as soon as we keluar kereta :) That's what I call luck! Bila sampai kat area Menara Condong tu baru lah nampak competitors lain. We made up time... were further relieved when we saw kereta peserta pro yang selalu menang. While MrB and I cari answers, CKL went in search for the remaining *treasures*. Kesian dia.. by the time she balik, berpeluh2. Again we were lucky with some *tembak*.
But unfortunately, by the time we left Teluk Intan, we only had 45 minutes remaining. I knew from past experience, that it takes longer than that to reach Lumut... with normal driving that is. So apa lagi lah... ZCD pun pecut. Nasib baik naik BMW, hehe. On the way, at one point, we experienced zero-gravity... melambung big time! Literally bontot terangkat beberapa inci... sikit lagi tak terhantuk kepala on the roof. Whoa... all of us exclaimed... followed by giggles (ok... to protect his macho-ness, MrB tak giggle, haha).
With seconds to spare, we lalu je the next clue area dengan harapan the answers would stare back at us. Harapan memang tinggal harapan... takde satu pun yang dijumpa, although one was quite easy (which we did see on the way back). I was tasked to make the mad dash to the clock-in counter... usually ni tugas HA, MrGym. But since he's not around, they chose the most unfit team member, moi, untuk berlari... ada kaa. Nasib baiklah we could drive right sampai depan the booth ;) Tapi nasib masih kurang baik because we missed the deadline by 1 miserable minute... tolak 2 points.
The 8 1/2 hours hunt felt so short... Lepas dah clock-in, we went in search for something more important... food! hehe... Stopped at a mamak for nasi beriyani. Informed the team that based on my previous visit to the resort, their food is lousy (which it was), hence it was a good call to satisfy our hunger. Actuallynya tak lah lapar sangat... berbiji2 jambu I makan and twisties yang pelbagai perisa lagi ;)
Thanks to some barter trades, I roomed with HJ. She was already waiting masa we sampai. Instead of taking a shower, decided to join HJ, NHAR, NMG, NSK, RA for a stroll along the beach... walaupun badan penat, kepala masih pening. I was rewarded with the most amazing sunset view. Sangat cantik!
Got back in time to take a refreshing shower... bestnya dpt the warm massaging flow of water, especially to soothe the throbbing headache. Berat betul rasa kepala... If not because of the dinner, I would have straight away snuggled in bed.
Dinner was by the beach... and our guest of honour made a special entrance naik boat yang siap dengan fireeater blowing api... landing on shore gaya pendatang haram, hehe. The night looks promising. DBB#3 in his usual manner, made jokes while delivering his kata-kata aluan... he got excited bercerita tentang negeri kelahiran dia... Paris got its name from Parit, Brussels from Bruas, Boston from Bota. IMHO he's the most fun and friendly member of our Mgmt.
During dinner adalah a three piece band perform... yang mana the lead singer nyanyi tak berapa sedap, lagi sedap the keyboardist, Vishnu. Our MC was quite entertaining... got us rallied cheering for a limbo competition, best dressed catwalk, scavenger hunt... all to kill time sementara the organisers tally the points. Dinner as expected was sub-par. Nasib baik dah makan earlier... unlike HJ yang berlapar because meehoon goreng yg dihajat hasil air tangan NSK telah basi.
We had to wait quite a while to get the results... so sambil2 tunggu I went around chatting with some people. Managed to catch up with ABA... since dia balik, tak sempat lagi berborak. Around 11.45pm baru lah they announced the answers and results.
Seperti disangka, we did rather badly... only managed 17th place. Nasib baik lah this year they gave prize to the top 40, so we didn't look so bad, hehe. In 2004 we came in 3rd, improved to 2nd in 2005, got 8th in 2006. Menjunam! I had no expectations... given the circumstances, it was reasonable. We managed to score 90.5/115... masa the MC annouced, I agak dpt #18 while MrB agak #17. As it turned out #18 and #17 both scored 90.5 but our team was ahead because of... erm, I pun tak sure lah kenapa. We could have done better if we had really wanted to. But as I told the team yesterday, it was the journey that made it fun... being around great company and melalui pelbagai peristiwa.
By the time the whole dinner thing habis, I was already separa pengsan... very bad headache and body already feeling *semacam*. As soon as melabuhkan kepala dibantal, memang pengsan sampai lah alarm kejut for subuh. Itupun lepas solat sambung tido balik until 8.30am. ZCD called to wake me up and to inform that we'll be leaving at 10am. Head was still throbbing and felt nauseous... forced myself to have some bread to alas perut before taking actifast. Drank 3 glasses of OJ and a bottle of water... slightly better.
On the way back, we singgah kat waterfront Lumut to borong some makanan laut kering. Unlike the preceding day, we drove leisurely back to KL... no melambung2 this time, hehe. I can't quite recall what we talked about... and this time, I could enjoy the scenery of sawah bendang menghijau and pokok kelapa melambai. So beautiful!
Reached the office complex around 1.45pm... CKL's hubby sampai at the same time, perfectly synhronised. Bid au revoir to ZCD & MrB and terus balik rumah. Sampai terus boom... I was totally drained. Only woke up for solat... but otherwise I slept from 2.30 - 8.30pm. Woke up to mandi, take in some food, more panadol... then tido balik sampai pagi. Itupun tekak was still payau the whole day...
I'm no spring chicken anymore...
