somewhere between LA and Houston

I’m writing again from the plane… this is quite an interesting way to kill time, especially during these *not too long but not short either* flights.

Woke up super early this morning… intended to go to bed at 10pm but ended staying up until almost midnight. Itupun terjaga sekejap after receiving an sms from home regarding iphone order. Woke up at 4.30am… masa tu cursing myself for setting the alarm too early. Needed to take the 6am shuttle… 1 hour is more than enough to get ready. Oh well… then right after the alarm, received call from home. Also my wake up call… dah pesan suruh kejut, takut for some reason the alarms on both handphone and hotel tak hidup. Contingency planning maa, hehe…

Had a good sleep on the super comfy bed… I wish I can have a similar bed at home. Saw something like that kat Hartamas Shopping Centre the other day. One of those luxurious beds yang made for export market. Costs around 5k. Hmm… tempting. During her call, Mama also informed that she has started moving things around in preparation for the renovation. Nasib baik buat while I’m not around… so I’m not drafted to do all the angkat2 barang, hehe…

By 6.20am I was already at the Continental Airlines check-in counter. They’re very efficient here… making use of the technology to expedite the process. Did my own check-in… mula2 tak reti and waiting for assistance was taking a bit too long because the staff tengah tolong this couple yang serba confuse. So, took out my reservation documents, cari my booking number and voila! All done in less than 2 minutes. Cuma satu je leceh… since I locked my bag, had to angkut pergi x-ray area pulak. Nasib baiklah the bags are still kosong so easy to maneuver.

All done by 6.40am. What to do next? Boarding at 7.25am… oh yes! I need to go make those flight changes. So berjalan lah ke arah United Airlines punya area pulak. Nasib baik just next door… kalau jauh, penat juga nak jalan dengan mengangkut laptop pelbagai. Alhamdulilah… I could make the change and will now be taking the red-eye from LA to Washington on Tuesday. I’m booked on business but since the flight only has coach and first, I’m bumped to first :) Tapi I have a feeling that first class on United won’t be as good as business on Malaysia. Oh well.. janji boleh tido. I was assisted by the nicest airline crew named Miko… or something like that. Nama dia panjang… ada 3 words. One thing I like about being in the US is that their service quality is top notch. And it is good whether you’re in cattle class or upper echelon.

Even the counter girl kat a café near the boarding gate was very nice. Initially I wanted to have some coffee… but the queue for Starbucks was just too long. So decided to head next door for a yoghurt parfait and water… healthy you, hehe. I was hungry and the other only option was having fries. Na ‘ah… The yoghurt was nice… with strawberries, blueberries and some muesli. Sambil I tengah simpan change, a guy who works for the airport came to the counter and started to flirt with the girl. I buat tak tahu je lah, hehe…

While waiting to board the plane, I sms NSY to inform her about my flight changes. Before I left hari tu, we had planned to meet at the Dulles airport and head into town together. Now with the change, I’ll be heading to Farisa’s first… which is quite good so that I can leave the big bags (which I suspect is going to be filled to the brim after this weekend, hehe) at her house. Then NSY sms back to inform that she’ll be flying back via NY and ajak I balik sekali. I have no problems with that… as long as travel agent boleh buatkan. If that works out, I’ll literally be making a roundtrip across the globe, haha…

Oh… I’ve got to share this. On board, Continental served cornflakes. How brilliant is that?! Just perfect… with cold milk, OJ and raisins. A meal to suit the time of day. The last time I was this impressed with airline innovation was during a flight from Bangkok to Chiangmai bila the Thai Air stewardess started to pass plastic bag to passengers yang nak tapau the food that they’ve nicely put in an efficient box.

Another 1.5 hours to destination… I think I’m going to take a short nap :)
